Youth Voice Consultation

Participant Information Sheet

1. Title of project

Youth Voice Project

2. Invitation statement

Ignite Creativity is working with Artworks (www.theartworks.org.uk) to help us conduct an insight gathering process called Youth Voice.

Before you decide whether or not to participate in this insight gathering process via a survey, interview or focus group, it is important for you to understand why it is being done and what it will involve.

Please take time to read the following information carefully and discuss it with others if you wish. Ask us if there is anything that is not clear or if you would like more information, and please take time to decide whether you wish to take part.

Thank you for reading this, and for your interest in taking part in the Youth Voice project.

3. Why are we doing this?

We are doing this to understand the current state and perceptions of cultural educational provision for children and young people in Calderdale so that we can better inform strategic and action planning for children and young people by Ignite Creativity, our stakeholders, partners and the wider cultural sector.

4. Why do we want to hear from you?

We would like to hear from you because you have been identified as a stakeholder of cultural education for young people in Calderdale as you are part of one of the below groups:

  • A child or young person aged 12-16

  • A governor, manager or teacher in a school

  • A parent, guardian or carer

  • Work for or represent a cultural or creative organisation

  • Work for or represent an organisation or body that supports children and young people in Calderdale

5. Do I have to take part?

Taking part in this project is voluntary and if you do not wish to take part, there will be no negative consequences. If you do decide to take part, you can change your mind at any time; meaning that you can withdraw from the survey, interview or focus group either before, during or after the event.

Please note that that choosing to participate in this research will not create a legally binding agreement, nor is it intended to create an employment relationship between you and Ignite Creativity.

6. What will happen to me if I take part? What do I have to do?

If you take part, you will be invited to do so through one of the following options:

7. What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?

There are no anticipated disadvantages of taking part in this survey, interview or focus group. It is intended to provide insights that will improve the creative and cultural educational offer for children and young people in Calderdale. No personal or identifying information will be used in the report.

8. What are the possible benefits of taking part?

Whilst there are no immediate benefits for those people participating in the survey, interview or focus group, it is intended that this work will help to develop understandings of the state and perceptions of creativity and culture in Calderdale for its children and young people. We hope that the project's findings and recommendations will be used to support action and strategic planning by stakeholders and partners.
