  • Everybody Arts Shaw Lane Halifax HX3 9ET (map)

Welcome to Culture Connect: a network to bring together schools and cultural organisations and practitioners in Calderdale. Please use the form below to save your spot, and check our events listings for other meetings.

This is a special event dedicated to helping primary, secondary and FE headteachers and subject leads to plan out their creative and cultural curriculums for the 2025/2026 academic year, bringing together local arts and cultural organisations in one place to help you find the best activities for your students to take part in.

The event is free and open to all who work with young people aged 4-18 in the arts and humanities in Calderdale.

  • Meetings are free to attend and open to anyone who works with young people in Calderdale.

Culture Connect is particularly aimed at:

    • School and college teachers, senior leadership teams and governors in Calderdale

    • Organisations working on arts and cultural projects with schools in Calderdale

    • Individual practitioners working on arts and cultural projects with schools in Calderdale

  • Schools and colleges, you’ve told us that you often struggle to find cultural activities that your students can engage with and take part in local projects.

Cultural organisations and practitioners, you’ve told us that it can be difficult to share your projects with local schools and get students and teachers involved.

We want to make that easier for you by creating this free ‘matchmaking’ service and start to develop a supportive and inspiring network. We hope that the network will develop over time, and will be asking you at this first meeting about your ideas and aspirations for the meetings.

  • Coordinated by Ignite Creativity, the Culture Connect meetings act as a meeting point for schools and cultural organisations and practitioners in Calderdale.

Organisations and practitioners can book slots of 5-10 minutes to present their current projects to schools. This could be an update on a project you’re developing with young people, a call out for participants, news about some teacher CPD provision or even a taster practical activity. You can present just once at a meeting or attend regularly to help build up your own network.
