About Halifax Heritage

Halifax Heritage Tours CIC aims to raise pride in Halifax and the surrounding area by sharing the heritage stories of the people, buildings and spaces that many have seen but know little about.

A variety of tours, on foot and by bus, offer visitors dedicated time to appreciate and be inspired by the numerous listed buildings and the stories they tell, nurturing a sense of pride and ownership in the place they live or are visiting.

Trusted by Calderdale Council’s Halifax Town Hall and Mayoralty team, we ensure visitors have access to this otherwise closed-to-the-public building. We partner with CultureDale, Anne Lister Festivals and many local heritage related organisations.

Working with schools to compliment syllabus whilst supervising placements for Masters students from the Public History Department, York University is another arm of this volunteer led organisation.

Cultural activities provided for young people and those who work with them:

  • Tours offered to youth groups of Halifax Town Hall and Halifax town centre.

  • Support Masters History students at York University

  • We support to Duke of Edinburgh students who wish to volunteer in the heritage sector in Halifax
